Reverse Image Transfer (Retransfer) Card Printing Technology
This ID card printer uses advanced retransfer printing technology, where ink from a ribbon is first applied to a dye-receptive "transfer film." After all necessary colors are layered onto the film, it is then fused onto a blank PVC or composite card. This two-step process results in a high-definition, "over-the-edge" printed card. Because the printing process uses a flexible transfer film rather than a fixed printhead, it is perfect for producing highly detailed images (up to 600 dpi) on uneven surfaces, such as ID cards with embedded electronic chips (smart cards). Additionally, the re-transfer method extends the lifespan of the printhead by eliminating direct contact with the card material.
300 dpi
This ID card printer achieves a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch), equivalent to 11.8 dpm (dots per millimeter). DPI refers to the number of individual dots of ink the printer can place within a linear inch of the card’s surface. A higher DPI means more dots, resulting in finer detail and sharper images.
