MATICA XL8300 Large Format Retransfer Printer
Details
The Matica Matica XL8300 XL8300, built on the renowned XID print engine, leverages retransfer printing technology to deliver high-quality, bespoke event badges on wide-format plastic cards. Ideal for access credentials in the event management industry, the XL8300 is perfect for concert organizers, sports teams, and marketing agencies needing to quickly produce personalized credentials. Whether oversized cards are used as event passes, tickets, or name tags for attendees, VIPs, or staff, the XL8300 ensures high visibility and helps meet security and access control needs. With impressive output speeds of up to 128 monochrome cards per hour and up to 85 full-color cards per hour, it meets tight event deadlines with ease. Its compact desktop design allows for onsite, on-demand printing, making it a flexible solution for dynamic event environments.
Reverse Image Transfer (Retransfer) Card Printing Technology
This ID card printer uses advanced retransfer printing technology, where ink from a ribbon is first applied to a dye-receptive "transfer film." After all necessary colors are layered onto the film, it is then fused onto a blank PVC or composite card. This two-step process results in a high-definition, "over-the-edge" printed card. Because the printing process uses a flexible transfer film rather than a fixed printhead, it is perfect for producing highly detailed images (up to 600 dpi) on uneven surfaces, such as ID cards with embedded electronic chips (smart cards). Additionally, the re-transfer method extends the lifespan of the printhead by eliminating direct contact with the card material.
300 dpi
This ID card printer achieves a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch), equivalent to 11.8 dpm (dots per millimeter). DPI refers to the number of individual dots of ink the printer can place within a linear inch of the card’s surface. A higher DPI means more dots, resulting in finer detail and sharper images. At 300 dpi, this printer ensures that photos, logos, barcodes, and text are rendered with precision, producing professional-grade cards with clear, vibrant visuals. This level of detail is crucial for ID cards, where every element—from facial features to small text—needs to be easily readable and visually appealing.
Single-Sided ID Card Printing
This ID card printer is optimized for single-sided printing, focusing on efficiency and precision for projects where content is only needed on one side of the card. Its streamlined design makes it a cost-effective and straightforward solution for organizations that don’t require dual-sided printing capabilities. By dedicating its technology to one side at a time, the printer ensures consistent, high-quality output with each card, making it perfect for applications like employee IDs, membership cards, or visitor badges. Should your needs evolve to require dual-sided printing, additional passes, upgraded modules, or new equipment would be required to achieve that functionality.
Contactless Encoder
A contactless encoder in an ID card printer encodes data onto cards embedded with a chip and an antenna, which communicate via radio frequency (RF). Unlike contact smart cards, contactless cards do not need to touch the reader physically. Instead, they can be read by simply holding the card close to the reader. This technology is often used for access control, payment systems, or secure identification. It offers the convenience of quick, wireless data transmission, improving both security and ease of use in environments like offices, schools, and government buildings.
